Therapeutic communication skills provide a foundation for implementing the nursing role based on the American Psychiatric Nurses Association standards of practice with psychiatric patients/clients in a variety of psychiatric treatment settings. In the clinical experience, students work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in applying evidenced-based practice based on current interdisciplinary research to the nursing process.
