This course emphasizes fundamentals of quantum mechanics and statistical thermodynamics with applications to topics such as quantum dots, superconductivity, polymers, and critical phenomenon. Multivariable Calculus and the 2-semester Physics sequence with lab are recommended as pre-requisites, but it is acceptable for either to be taken concurrently.
