A massive amount of commercial and consumer transactions involve taking personal property as collateral. Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code governs nearly all of these. From car loans, to multi-billion-dollar subprime mortgage lending. From restaurant equipment, to commercial and private jets. From nonprofit hospitals, to crypto-assets. And from financing business day-to-day operations, to the largest leveraged buyouts. Article 9 is at the center of it all. We will study Article 9 extensively, as well as certain other statutes.
